• 1665 English rename New Amsterdam, New York, after Dutch pull out

• 1903 Niagara Falls, Ontario incorporated as a city

Minnesota

• The morel became Minnesota’s state mushroom in 1984.

Benton County

• Foley became the permanent county seat after the 1901 relocation vote.
